Dogs in Plantation: Happy Tails Dog Park is the only city park that allows them. Leash and license rules, Doggie-Palooza, and pet-friendly Plantation Walk.
Last checked Oct. 10, 2026. Sources: the City of Plantation’s Animal Corner page, its parks directory, park hours and 2026 Doggie-Palooza listing; the city’s Code of Ordinances, Chapter 4, Animals; Broward County Animal Care; and Plantation Walk. Parks and Recreation: 954-452-2510.
Plantation is stricter than many cities about dogs in parks. Dogs are not allowed in city parks except designated areas, the city says, which in practice means Happy Tails Dog Park at Seminole Park. Outside the parks, the outdoor plaza at Plantation Walk welcomes leashed dogs, and the city’s yearly Doggie-Palooza is the dog event of the year.

- No dogs at large. Dogs may not run loose.
- No dogs in city parks except specifically designated areas.
- Dangerous dogs must be registered with the city and insured.
- Never leave a pet in a vehicle without proper ventilation or where it is exposed to extreme heat or cold.
The full rules are in Chapter 4, Animals, of the city code.
Happy Tails Dog Park
Happy Tails Dog Park is at Seminole Park, 6500 SW 16th St., and is open 7 a.m. to dusk, according to the city’s hours page. The city’s rules, from its parks directory:
- Dogs are leashed coming in and going out.

- Owners clean up after their dogs and keep them in view.
- No female dogs in heat.

Seminole Park is in the south of the city, off SW 16th Street near Pop Travers Field. More on city parks is in our parks and trails guide.
Doggie-Palooza
The city’s Doggie-Palooza, a dog expo, reached its 24th year on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Happy Tails Dog Park. Entry was $2 a person, donated to a local nonprofit, and dogs got in free. The day had local vendors, a police K-9 demonstration, a frisbee dog show, a free photo booth, a lure course, pet adoptions and contests for Best Dressed Pooch, Pet/Owner Look-A-Like and Best Pet Tricks, according to the city’s listing. Expect the 2027 expo in late January; call 954-452-2510.
Plantation Walk
Plantation Walk, 321 N. University Dr., calls itself always pet-friendly. Its code of conduct sets the rules:
- Pets are welcome in the common areas, leashed and supervised by someone 16 or older.
- Pets must have current vaccinations; aggressive behavior is not allowed.
- Clean up at the pet waste stations; pets stay off the artificial lawns.
- Each merchant sets its own pet policy. Ask before taking a dog into a store or onto a patio.
Plantation Walk held a Pets in the Plaza afternoon on Jan. 17, 2026, with DJs, giveaways from its Chewy Vet Care clinic and pet specials at participating venues (details). Its monthly car show and Plaza Live music are billed as pet-friendly; Rock the Park concerts at Pine Island Park are not, the city says.
Restaurant patios
We list a restaurant patio as dog-friendly only when the restaurant says so on its own website. None in Plantation did as of Oct. 10; at Plantation Walk, ask each restaurant.
What this means for you
- Take the dog to Happy Tails, not to the neighborhood park; other city parks do not allow dogs.
- Keep the county tag current; Happy Tails requires a visible license.
- Mark late January for Doggie-Palooza.
