New food businesses in Plantation, July to early October 2026, from state licensing inspections: Potbelly, Uncle Lee, Yuzu Asian Food & Market and more.

Last checked Oct. 10, 2026. This roundup is rebuilt monthly. This edition comes from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s food service inspection data (District 2 file, July 1 to Oct. 7, 2026) and the City of Plantation’s Local Business Tax Receipt page. Business tax questions: 954-797-2239.

Before a restaurant, cafe or food counter can open in Florida, a state inspector does a licensing inspection. Those inspections are public, which makes them one of the earliest records of a new food business. Between July 1 and Oct. 5, 2026, the state recorded licensing inspections at eight food businesses with a Plantation address.

Where the openings are

Half of the eight are on University Drive, and two are side by side on Peters Road. Westfield Broward, at 8000 W. Broward Blvd., added a food court counter.

Starting a business in Plantation

From the city’s Local Business Tax Receipt page:

  • Every business, profession or occupation in the city needs a Local Business Tax Receipt before it starts operating, including home-based businesses and short-term vacation rentals. Operating without one can bring fines.
  • New accounts are started through the city’s Citizen Access portal, required since Aug. 24, 2023.
  • Receipts expire Sept. 30 each year. Renewal statements are emailed the last week of June and should be paid between July 1 and Sept. 30.
  • Applying does not guarantee a receipt will be issued, the city says. A new storefront may also need a building permit; see our permits guide.

How this list is built

Each month we pull new licensing inspections from the state’s food service file for Plantation addresses, and add openings the city or the business announces itself. We do not list a business from rumor or a review site. Shops, offices and services that do not sell food are not inspected by the state; send them to us and we will add them once confirmed.

What this means for you

  • New places to try on University Drive and Peters Road.
  • Opening something? Get your business tax receipt through Citizen Access first.
  • Tell us about an opening and we will check it for the next edition.
