The plan was prepared with Lauderdale West and the complexes around it: Hamilton House, Jacaranda Heights, Harbor Town, Southern Pointe, Islandia, Los Prados, Bayberry Village and Parc Village. Jacaranda Lakes is across Pine Island Road to the west and Mirror Lake across University Drive to the east.
Of the area’s street addresses, 95% are in ZIP code 33322 and 5% in 33324.
History. The plan says Lauderdale West was created in 1972 by Gulfstream Land Development Corp. and Campanelli Industries. It was part of unincorporated Broward County until July 23, 1974, when it joined Plantation after its residents voted for Plantation over Sunrise. Residents took over the community’s operations on July 4, 1976, under Lauderdale West Community Association No. 1, which later bought the community’s recreation lease from the developer for $3.2 million after a court fight. The clubhouse was rebuilt after a fire in the 1980s.
