Where it is

The city’s Plantation Acres Neighborhood Plan Report, approved by the City Council in November 2001, defines the neighborhood as the westernmost part of the city, west of Hiatus Road and north and south to the city limits. That runs from I-595 in the south to the city’s northern edge above Sunrise Boulevard, with Broward Boulevard and Flamingo Road crossing it. The Broward County Property Appraiser’s neighborhood layer names a dozen pieces inside it, including Plantation Acres itself, Sawgrass Plantation, Lago Mar Colony, Sunshine City, Melaleuca Isles, Blackhawk and The Outback.

Of the area’s street addresses, 66% are in ZIP code 33325 and 34% in 33323.

History. The plan says a developer started in 1963 with 2,000 acres and built 25 miles of roads and canals, offering lots of 1 to 5 acres. The first two families finished homes in 1964, and residents formed the Plantation Acres Homeowners Association in 1968. The area was annexed on Oct. 9, 1973, after votes of 247 to 10 in the Acres and Melaleuca Isles and 1,262 to 77 in Plantation, adding 2,601 acres to the city. The 2001 plan also recorded frequent flooding during heavy rains.

Schools

How the area’s addresses fall in Broward County’s 2025-26 school boundary layers, with each school’s 2026 grade from the Florida Department of Education. The percentage is the share of possible points the school earned.

Level School Share of addresses 2026 grade
Elementary Central Park Elementary, 777 N. Nob Hill Road (report card) 63% A (70%)
Elementary Sawgrass Elementary, 12655 NW 8th St., Sunrise (report card) 37% A (77%)
Middle Plantation Middle, 6600 W. Sunrise Blvd. (report card) 63% C (54%)
Middle Bair Middle, 9100 NW 21st Manor, Sunrise (report card) 37% B (58%)
High Plantation High, 6901 NW 16th St. (report card) 89% B (64%)
High South Plantation High, 1300 Paladin Way (report card) 11% A (70%)

The split follows two lines. West of Flamingo Road the zoned schools are Sawgrass Elementary and Bair Middle, both in Sunrise; east of it, Central Park Elementary and Plantation Middle. South Plantation High takes the addresses south of Broward Boulevard between Flamingo and Hiatus roads; everywhere else is zoned for Plantation High.
